Over 30 years of biking in Alameda County, I’ve noticed a sharp increase in dangerous driving on Alameda County’s city streets: speeding, running red lights, no turn signals, no attention from drivers turning right when a bike is next to them on the right.
Cyclists pull lots of crazy stunts as well, and that needs to stop, but their potential damage to others is less than what we face from heavy, fast-moving cars.
What measures is Alameda County willing to take to reverse the trend toward dangerous driving: video cameras in intersections? lower speed limits? police enforcement? protected bike lanes?
